HATES, a serious game to counter racism and disinformation
As part of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (21 March), the University of Angers and OSINT4Fun will launch "HATES", a serious game designed to raise awareness of discrimination and to educate participants in information-seeking techniques.
Developed by OSINT4Fun, a project led by researchers and members of civil society, this online challenge offers open-source educational resources to learn how to get better informed, verify facts and fight disinformation. Supported by the EU GREEN alliance, OSINT4Fun is part of a scientific mediation and media education approach, in line with the alliance's commitments to strengthen critical thinking and raise awareness of societal issues.
HATES, an educational game to understand and take action
The game is open to anyone wishing to take up the challenge, without registration.
Participants will discover the underlying mechanisms of racism, anti-semitism and sexism through the story of three characters. They will have to sharpen their analytical and critical thinking skills to accompany the three heroes on their quests.
This serious game will immerse the participants in a world much like our own… They will learn how to track down information and trace it back to the source of certain groups that have chosen to capitalize on hatred for profit, disregarding the fundamental values of any modern democracy.
